If any of this sounds like you, you are in the right place for some answers!
Millions of Americans and citizens around the world suffer from symptoms of chronic disease, or as I like to call it, “functional imbalances” which impair our ability to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life.
I am no exception! Growing up, I had a lot of anxiety around food. I tried my best to eat what I believed was healthy but despite my efforts, I struggled with my weight, chronic eczema, asthma, debilitating food and seasonal allergies, and my relationship with food.
After many years of frustrating diagnoses, endless prescriptions, and numerous doctor visits I became fed up with conventional medicine only trying to mask my symptoms instead of finding the root cause of my problem and correcting it at its source so I could live in a state of sustainable health.
I was not aware of the impact diet had on health until I was exposed to a course in my undergraduate program that linked the rise in chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome to the parallel rise in the consumption of the standard American diet which consists of processed foods laden with sugar, refined carbohydrates, poor-quality animal protein, saturated fat, and convenience foods.
Who would have ever thought diet had such an impact on health? Nobody ever told me that! I used to look at food as a way to fill my cavity and give me energy, not itty-bitty sized molecular pieces that carry information to my cells in order for them to function properly!
Not one doctor or pharmacist talked about the profound effect food has on our body's ability to function. This is what led me to take my care into my own hands using nutrition and lifestyle changes at the forefront.
My experience fueled my passion to educate others to treat food as more than just energy. Food is medicine, food is life.
I believe everybody should have access to the facts about food and nutrition coming straight from what the scientific research says are the best foods and ways to prepare food to support optimal health.
That’s what led me to create Foodhappy, LLC. A novel nutrition service that focuses on education, personalized nutrition, and lifestyle changes to support YOUR health goals.
